London School of Jewish Studies
The London School of Jewish Studies has become the 38th member of the Jewish Leadership Council. Earlier this month, the JLC Council of Membership met and approved the application of LSJS to join the organisation.
LSJS, the successor organisation to Jews’ College, is a world class centre of teaching and learning. They are the premier provider of teacher training for the UK Jewish community and rated Outstanding by OFSTED across all their programmes. They train teachers who work across 42 Jewish primary and secondary schools and provide professional development for Jewish studies teachers through their Jewish Education degree programmes and Jewish Studies teachers’ conferences. LSJS provide innovative, accessible and intellectually rigorous lifelong learning opportunities for those enrolled and across the wider community.
LSJS is professionally led by Joanne Greenaway as Chief Executive and Chaired by Gary Phillips, who will become its representative on the JLC Council of Membership. Gary Philips said:
‘It’s an honour to be joining the JLC. I believe in strength in numbers, and being part of an organisation that has [38] members is good for LSJS, and good for the whole community'.’
Keith Black, Chair of the Jewish Leadership Council said:
“It is wonderful to see the JLC grow and bring in a leading pillar of the education architecture of the community as a member. We are excited to begin working closer together.”
