JLC Rep Council Summit brings Leeds and Greater Manchester together
The JLC (Jewish Leadership Council) organised a summit between the Leeds Jewish Representative Council (LJRC) and Jewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester and Region (JRC). Chair Mark Adlestone and CEO of JRC Marc Levy visited Leeds on Monday and met with Chair of LJRC Simon Myerson KC, President Laurence Saffer and COO of LJRC Susie Gordon
Discussions were wide ranging, touching on the changing structure of the JRC and lessons that could be learnt, the challenges faced by both communities, the Strengths and Assets Mapping Report in Greater Manchester, future planning and local and national government issue-specific engagement.
While in Leeds the JRC delegation visited The Zone, meeting staff and trustees; visited Cherry Tree House and Stonegate Way and met Mark Grandfield, CEO of Leeds Jewish Housing Association and Craig Simons, Head of Operations and met in the MAZCC with the Vice-Chair Helen Jewish and CEO of Leeds Jewish Welfare Board Liz Bradbury. A reciprocal visit by the LJRC to Greater Manchester is planned for the end of the year.
“We were truly delighted to meet the JRC this week, and for them to visit key institutions in Leeds. The exchange of ideas, opportunity to pick each other’s brains, and for everyone to broaden their own thinking, my seeing how things are done elsewhere was extraordinarily useful. We are grateful to the JLC for arranging the day, and look forward to the away fixture in a couple of months.”
Simon Myerson, Chair Leeds Jewish Representative Council
“I would like to thank the Leeds community for the warm welcome received when we recently visited.
“The opportunity to discuss successes and challenges with all the key stakeholders across different organisations was invaluable. From our meetings, it is clear the community in Leeds have created great charities run by talented professionals and dedicated Trustees.
“We look forward to continuing this dialogue across representative councils as the ability to share thoughts and strategic visions will prove to be mutually beneficial.”
