Leadership and management both have a huge impact on the effectiveness of a department or organisation. Although they are used interchangeably, they are not the same and skills and competences need to be developed in both. This course clarifies the difference between leadership and management but focusses on management skills. These skills are essential for managing people fairly but achieving organisational goals.

The following one-day workshop is to designed to support and meet the development needs of those leading and managing teams across an organisation. During a variety of activities, experienced managers will be supported to reflect on their current competencies and strategies whilst identifying other ways to perform in order to meet individual and organisations goals.

By the end of the session participants will have an understanding of
• Their management strengths and areas of development
• How to lead a diverse workforce and manage their performance throughout the employee life cycle
• Be able to use a ‘Managers’ Toolkit’ of strategies and techniques to manage performance and under performance
• How to move from holding difficult to transformative conversations
• Have problem solved and developed a range of solutions to address any challenges that they may be facing in the role.
• Have a deeper understanding of their strengths and areas for development as a manager and leader and developed a personal development plan to meet their needs and goals.
