Jewish Community Professionals’ Conference 2025

Following on from the success of our 2024 London and Manchester conferences which saw 200 people join, we are delighted to be hosting our London 2025 conference on Thursday 22nd May. The event is aimed at community professionals at any stage of their career.

We strongly believe in the importance of professionalism at every level of an organisation and acknowledge the valuable insights we can gain from each other, as well as from the wider charity sector. Our conference presents an opportunity for professionals at any level, in any role, to reflect, connect, learn, and share their experiences in a safe environment.

Susan is a business psychologist, a speaker and an academic. She is a chartered psychologist, coaching psychologist & supervisor with the British Psychological Society and a Fellow of the Association of Business Psychologists. She works as an executive coach, consultant, mediator, and an observer of working life. She has a particular interest in the behaviour of people at work and below the surface dynamics in organisations.

    The former senior rabbi of one of the UK’s most prestigious synagogues, Harvey advises boards, empowers organisational development and is sought-after public speaker and broadcaster. Harvey was educated at the Universities of Oxford and London, as well as at the Gateshead Talmudical College.

An Oxford graduate with an academic teaching background, she is accredited by the International Coach Federation and has completed specialist training in ADHD and chronic disorganisation. In addition to coaching individuals from diverse backgrounds, Juliet regularly leads training in community and corporate settings. She has written two books: What’s Your Excuse for not Being More Productive? (2017) and What’s Your Excuse for not Clearing Your Clutter? (2018).

  • Joey is a Masters-educated Leadership Consultant from London, of Yemeni-Jewish origin, who designs and facilitates leadership programmes for audiences across the globe. He specialises in cultivating high performing team culture, communication skills training and innovative approaches to project management, having had experience with Jewish communities, organisations and foundations in over 50 countries. He developed the Modern Diaspora History Curriculum for the Pluralistic Rabbinical Seminary in the USA, produced the 2023 report on Jewish Innovation in the Diaspora for the Templeton Foundation, and sits on the Board of the Movement for Reform Judaism.

  • This session will explore the opportunities and challenges that rapidly-developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology brings for charities. We will look at how the technology might radically alter the operating environment for charities in the future - both by enabling new ways of working and by creating new practical and ethical challenges - and will consider what charities need to know and how they should be responding to the rise of AI.

  • Rhodri Davies is a widely-respected expert and commentator on philanthropy and civil society issues. He is the Founder and Director of Why Philanthropy Matters, a think tank focused on philanthropy issues, and the host of the Philanthropisms podcast. He is also a Pears Research Fellow in the Centre for Philanthropy at the University of Kent, and the Philanthropy Expert in Residence at the Pears Foundation.

    He is the author of What is Philanthropy For? (2023) and Public Good by Private Means: How philanthropy shapes Britain (2016) and he has researched, written and presented on a wide range of other topics – from charity taxation to the civil society applications of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence.

    He was formerly Head of Policy at Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), and established and led Giving Thought – CAF’s think tank focussing on current and future issues affecting philanthropy and civil society. Rhodri created and hosted CAF’s popular bi-weekly Giving Thought Podcast -which ran for over 100 episodes between 2017 and 2020.

  • This session will explore narrative therapy principles to reframe personal and organisational stories to support growth, clarity, and motivation.

    This will be achieved via four stages:

    1.      What is narrative therapy?
    2.     Identify an issue
    3.     Reframe the narrative
    4.     Identify a new and empowered narrative

    This session will help CEOs restructure internal narratives to enhance personal resilience, clarify their mission, and inspire their teams to ensure their organisation continues to thrive.

  • Kim Jana Deradi is a Clinical and Organisational Psychologist with a diverse and multidisciplinary background. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Universidad del Desarrollo in Chile, followed by a MSc in Organisational, Industrial, and Business Psychology from University College London. Additionally, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Eating Disorders at La Casa Alta in Chile.

    Kim's professional experience spans private practice, where she provides psychological support to clients online, as well as significant roles in multinational companies focusing on Organisational Development, Branding and Culture. 

    Her unique approach draws upon her clinical training and organisational expertise, enabling her to provide nuanced perspectives in both therapeutic and business contexts.

  • Corinne is the UK’s leading career coach and Managing Director of Personal Career Management Ltd.  She and her team of expert career coaches have helped thousands of people to “Love Monday Mornings”, helping them to be at their best at work.  Described by the BBC as “The Career Guru” she’s written several best-selling books on careers, including “You’re Hired! How to write a brilliant CV” and “Career Coach”.  Her latest book “Standout CVs” was a 2024 Finalist for the Institute of Leadership Book of the Year awards.  She appears regularly on TV and radio and writes features for many national newspapers such as the Guardian and the FT.  She has managed community employment projects and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development having worked in senior roles in HR before specialising in career management.

  • In this interactive breakout session, explore how charities can harness AI responsibly while ensuring ethical data use. We’ll look at best practices for data privacy and transparency, ensuring your organisation is doing all it can to further build trust with your stakeholders.

  • Dan’s NLP based coaching helps clients achieve positive change in their professional and personal lives.     In his work with Connections in Mind as an Executive Function Coach, Dan enjoys working with neurodiverse clients of all ages, occupations and backgrounds.

2.35 - 3.15pm - The State of the Charity Sector, David Holdsworth, CEO Charity Commission

David was appointed as Chief Executive of the Charity Commission in February 2024. Prior to that, David served as Chief Executive Officer of the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), the UK’s biosecurity agency responsible for protecting the UK from zoonotic disease (those that can move from animals to humans) as well as pests and plant disease.

Previously, David was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO), an executive agency of UK Government responsible for intellectual property rights in the UK, where he had responsibility for delivery, policy and tribunals in relation to UK intellectual property rights, as well as representing the UK at international bodies. Immediately prior to his role at the IPO David was Deputy CEO and Registrar of Charities for England and Wales at the Charity Commission.
