Passing the Torch -

An evening of connection to spark the next generation of Jewish leadership

Since October 7th, there has been a palpable desire and energy among Jewish professionals to engage with and support the community.  Additionally, we hear from communal organisations who are thinking about succession, and the next generation of lay leadership in the community. We are looking to build a series of events bringing Jewish communal organisations and committed emerging leaders together, and this event will be our launch:

What: Passing the Torch- an evening of connection to spark the next generation of Jewish leadership

When: Monday March 11th, 6.30-9pm

Where: North London location TBC

The event, sponsored by the Henry Family Foundation, will welcome Daniel Geey in conversation with ex- UJS President Nina Freedman. Daniel is a sports and entertainment lawyer, partner at Sheridans, author, podcaster and speaker. His most recent book, Build the Invisible, explores the invisible foundations of individuals who have made their mark in leadership roles. Nina Freedman, is a JLC Trustee, civil servant and one of our community’s inspiring emerging leaders.

Their discussion will draw from Daniel’s book and his considerable experience to explore leadership pathways and journeys, along with the implications for the next generation of Jewish leaders and our communal organisations. There will also be an opportunity to ask Daniel questions.

We will additionally hear from other eminent and inspiring lay leaders in the Jewish community who will talk about how they have stepped into leadership roles. There will be a drinks/canapés reception and networking time.

The evening aspires to connect leaders together to consider what the qualities are that will define the success of the next generation of leaders in our community and how our communal organisations can connect to younger leaders, shaping their succession plans and building ramps to bring talented young people on board.

This event will be the first in a series bringing Jewish communal organisations and committed emerging leaders together, helping to build the lay leadership pipeline and facilitate lay leadership journeys.

The event will be by invitation only. All those attending will receive a free copy of Daniel’s book, Build the Invisible.
