Regional Jewish Community Professionals’ Conference
JLC held the second Jewish Professionals’ Conference in Manchester
Over fifty communal professionals gathered on Tuesday for the second Annual Northern Jewish Professionals’ Conference in Manchester. This followed a London conference last week with over 150 communal staff. Between both conferences over 60 communal bodies and 200 professionals were represented.
This was the biggest event of its kind in the North for communal professionals with representation from the Leeds and Manchester communities. Sessions offered included help on bid writing and risk management. But the overall emphasis was on networking and sharing best practice.
As part of the conference, JLC Co-CEO Michelle Janes also talked about the launch of a new initiative in partnership with USA-based organisation, Leading Edge, that will provide an Employee Experience Survey to community organisations and professionals in July this year. This first-of-its-kind opportunity will be used to understand the community professional landscape and will support the JLC in strengthening the future of community organisations and leadership. The survey can be found at www.thejlc.org/leadingedge
Michelle Janes, Co-Chief Executive of the Jewish Leadership Council said:
‘It’s incredibly exciting and motivating to stand in a room with so many colleagues who are dedicating their time and energy to their organisations and personal development. Our community is fortunate to have so many staff working tirelessly and passionately to provide much needed support, creativity and services to our community. It has been inspirational to hear from many of them today about their work, see new connections being made and the seeds of future possibilities planted.’
Reflecting on their experience at the conference, participants said:
“A truly inspiring and invaluable networking opportunity.”
“It was excellent to share experiences and ideas with fellow Charity representatives”
“It was very new to me and different but it was eye-opening and very interesting.”
